State of Drupal (September 2009)

Two weeks ago at DrupalCon Paris, I gave my traditional state of Drupal presentation. The video of the presentation is available from archive.org, and you can download a copy of my slides (PDF, 8 MB) as well.

I don't want to give away the spoiler, but essentially, the state of Drupal is strong. :) We should be really proud of what we have accomplished with Drupal 6, and what we're about to accomplish with Drupal 7. In the presentation, I also talk about what it means for Drupal to grow up, and what the next phase of our life will most likely look like.

François Fillon on Drupal in Le Figaro

François Fillon, French Prime Minister, mentions Drupal in Le Figaro, one of the leading French daily newspapers. Read the article: Fillon est-il un «vrai geek»?. Maybe he has his own Drupal site or will get one soon? (Hat tip: Ineation)

French government portal using Drupal

After the French Ministry for Health, Youth and Sport using Drupal started using, the French government switched its official government portal to Drupal! Check it out at http://www.gouvernement.fr. Impressionnant!

The site was built by the French Government Multimedia Team and Adyax Experts (an Acquia partner). About 10 persons worked on it for several months. Most of the work was spent on building custom migration tools to switch from SPIP Agora to Drupal.

Randstad using Drupal

Randstad, a company providing temporary and permanent employment HR services, is using Drupal for their French site: http://randstad.fr. Randstad is the second largest HR services provider in the world and has major positions in over 50 countries. Randstad is listed on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange. If you're looking for Drupal work, they might have a job opening ... (Hat tip: Joeri Poesen)

French Ministry for Health, Youth and Sport using Drupal

The French Ministry for Health, Youth and Sport launched a Drupal-based information portal for French youth: http://www.jeunes.gouv.fr. Building on the rapid adoption of Drupal by non-profit and advocacy groups, Drupal's use by governments just keeps increasing!

France24 using Drupal

France24
France24, France's answer to BBC World and CNN, recently switched from Magnolia, an Open Source CMS written in Java, to Drupal. What is interesting is that France24 was one of Magnolia's flagship references ... I wonder what happened.
