Prof. Dave Brodbeck podcasts his Psych lectures and recently discussed the experience. There is a strong element of community building in this act. For example, he mentions including the students' question in the recording so they can hear themselves, and how people besides his students are listening to the podcasts. It's interesting reflecting on this after seeing the YouTube video. I've always thought of schools as a community, but hadn't considered the role of community in the actual act of learning. It brings a new light to the difference between simply posting Drupal how-to videos and the act of coming together the way Drupal Dojo was doing.
I was fortunate enough to hear Michael speak at a conference given by an organization that I work with. Let's just say that he changed the minds of everyone in the room and the way that we view education.
