Invitations

Drupal at FrOSCon 2007

FrOSCon is a two day conference on Free Software and Open Source, taking place on August 25th and 26th at the Fachhochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg in Sankt Augustin near the city of Bonn in Germany.

With the help of the Drupal Association, Robert Douglass is organizing a strong Drupal presence: we booked two rooms for a dedicated two day Drupal track (at least 12 Drupal presentations), we'll bring in Drupal experts like Gerhard Killesreiter (core committer), Gábor Hojtsy (core committer) and Robert Douglass (Drupal book author and Lullabot employee) himself, as well as several Google Summer of Code students.

We still have some slots left for Drupal speakers, so make sure to get in touch with Robert if you want to present about Drupal. The deadline to submit your session proposals is July 1st. We're fully committed to make this a great Drupal event so people giving a Drupal presentation will have their hotel room paid for by the Drupal Association!

Good job, Robert!

Meeting of minds 2007: the user is the content

On April 26th, C.H.I.P.S. organizes a debate that focuses on the impact of user generated content on traditional media, publishers and cultural organizations.

They lined up an impressive list of speakers and attendees, including people like Bob Young (former CEO of RedHat and CEO of LuLu.com) and Loïc Le Meur (blogger and former director SixApart).

And what's best? The event conveniently takes place in my home town of Antwerp (Belgium).

I'm pretty convinced that by now traditional media organizations have what they desperately needed: a clue -- but I'll bring my big foam cluebat nonetheless, I'll wear my NowPublic advisor hat and I'll bring a number of community experts. ;)

WebTech 2007

On April 25th, CMS Channel organizes WebTech 2007 in Affligem, Belgium. The conference is about new trends in web technologies and offers a mixture of lectures, workshops and an exhibition hall.

Not sure what the conference will be like, but let's check it out.

The registration fee is € 199 per person, but I have some free registrations to give away. Let me know if you want to join me, and I might be able to get you in for free.

Open Source CMS Summit at Yahoo!

At the Drupal road trip to San Francisco last summer, we met some great people at Yahoo!. With their generous help, we're now throwing a party ...

The Open Source CMS Summit is a two-day conference for those interested in open source content management systems. It is open to all open source content management systems and free for everyone to attend. The conference will take place on March 22nd and 23rd at the Yahoo! campus, in the heart of California's Silicon Valley.

We'd like to invite all open source CMS projects to take part, to help spread the word, and to submit session proposals at http://2007.oscms-summit.org/. Let's party together!

Drupal talk at CMS Congress

Next Thursday, I'll be spreading the Drupal love at the CMS Congres in Brussels. Feel free to join if you don't have plans already. Should be interesting as many of the big commercial CMS vendors will be present. Let's figure out how they look at Open Source, and whether they agree with the fact that Open Source offers better value proposition for users (customers). They probably just laugh in the face of danger.

Drupal talk at TI/KVIV

Next week, on Tuesday October 10th, I'll give an evening presentation about Drupal at the invitation of the Royal Flemish Society of Engineers (TI/KVIV). The event starts at 19:30h and conveniently takes place in my home town of Antwerp. If you are a Drupal user, or interested in learning about Drupal or Open Source software development, please stop by. The event is free and open for everyone, but registration is required.

DrupalCon Hungary

Just to add to the craziness: the weekend after DrupalCon Brussels, I'll be in Budapest to attend the first Hungarian Drupal conference. The conference takes place on the 30th of September, and brings together the key players of the Hungarian Drupal scene. All presentations are in Hungarian, except mine. (The one Hungarian word I know is "gulyás"; it makes for a good dinner but not exactly for a great presentation.) Registration is required prior to attendence, so sign up at the DrupalCon Hungary website.
