I know this is not ideal, but you can get the absolute numbers for a particular country by going to a URL like http://drupal.org/profile/country/Canada and clicking on "Last" page (eg: http://drupal.org/profile/country/Canada?page=489 ). Multiply the page-number by 20 (the number of names on a page) ~= 9780.
