What is your motivation for being a member of the Drupal Association?:
I want to do more, and be able to better support members of the Drupal community that reside in the Asia Pacific region.
What are the primary goals you would like to work on?:
At the moment my goals are more to represent the people from down under better, and maybe even look towards holding events in Australia or New Zealand.
But other than that I am really going to be looking to extend my knowledge of the inner workings of the community and infrastructure. I am about to start in a new position which will give me the opportunity to learn a lot more, and implement a large scale system. I am sure that can be translated into something that we as a community could use.
What strategy will you employ in order to accomplish said goals?:
Part of my new position I will have the backing of a large company which a looking to invest a lot into Drupal for themselves and this is going to have the roll on effect that will contribute to the community as well.
Part of the Drupal requirements will be a large Drupal installation of approx 25+ servers, and I am wanting to translate this knowledge into something that can be used to help the growth of the Drupal community.
What strengths/experience you have to help you accomplish the goals?:
I am a long term contributor, and with my new position I will be getting experience that will assist Drupal even more.
How long have you been using Drupal, and how'd you get your start?:
I have been with Drupal since before the the created field was added users table on Drupal.org. My first post was over 5 years ago.
I was looking for a CMS to fulfill a need for a previous employer.
Have you made existing community contributions, and if so, what?:
I have contributed code to the core of Drupal in the last 5 major releases and have been the leader of the e-Commerce project for the last 2 years.
Such contributed to Drupal were the hook_textarea which allowed the use of WYSIWYG editors, and more recently the hook_form_alter() which is a major hook and allows for the majority of the changes to be done without having to alter core. There have been many others as well.
How much time can you invest in your Drupal Association work?:
8 hours/month
