Gerhard Killesreiter

What is your motivation for being a member of the Drupal Association?:
I'd like to continue to support and promote Drupal.
What are the primary goals you would like to work on?:
I'd like to continue to grow the drupal.org infrastructure to meet the raising demand.
What strategy will you employ in order to accomplish said goals?:
Communication with OSUOSL and other interested parties.
What yearly budget would you need in order to accomplish said goals?:
This year we've spent about 14k $ in hardware and we got two machines for another 10k USD donated. We discussed with OSUOSL to partially fund one of their students in order to have more of their time. Considering that we've just got new hardware I don't expect to need much more next year. So a budget for both hardware and services for about 25k USD should hopefully suffice.
What strengths/experience you have to help you accomplish the goals?:
I'll let people decide that for themselves.
How long have you been using Drupal, and how'd you get your start?:
I deployed my first Drupal site at 2001-10-01.
Have you made existing community contributions, and if so, what?:
People will know. Those who don't can look it up: http://drupal.org/user/83 http://drupal.org/user/227 People seem concerned that I don't get 2/3 of votes for a board position if I don't fill in more about my contributions. I think that's a nice thought to have, but I actually don't think that the new PMs will be that out of touch with the Drupal project. But anyway: I've been contributing to all Drupal releases after 4.0 or so. I am (still) the release manager of the 4.7 branch. I am the cvs coordinator and cerberus on the cvs gates. I am also trying to help with the translations. last but not least I am the current infrastructure manager of the Drupal association. In that capacity I work with OSUOSL (mainly with Narayan Newton for whome you should also vote) to keep *.drupal.org running. This is not always fun, but luckily Narayan has the pager that gets him out of bed at night. I'd really hate that. So, I am not really _running_ the servers but coordinating e.g. new hardware purchases, trying patches to help drupal.org run Drupal faster and/or more stable etc.pp. I hope you now have enough information.
How much time can you invest in your Drupal Association work?:
16-20 hours/month
Apply for Board of Directors membership:
Apply for Board of Directors membership
Board of Directors position:
Infrastructure manager
Statutes:
I have read and understood the Statutes of the Drupal Association. I am prepared to participate by following those statutes.

Come on Gerhard, don't be

Come on Gerhard, don't be shy :-) Some of us just know you a bit more than the others applicants for this position, and some of them look very prepared for it. Don't let me imagine what are your strengths/experience you have to help you accomplish the goals. (with all my love, of course...)

Short, sweet, and to the point, eh? ;)

For those who don't know, Gerhard is the current Infrastructure manager.

Gerhard, do you have any specific ideas in terms of our infrastructure requirements for 2008? For example, will we be adding a dedicated testing server, or..?
